Date:October 06, 2012 helped you dig deeper into the national candidates who may be on your ballot. Rather than rely on the candidate’s own site or a one-line bio in your local paper, you can see NPR stories, polling data, campaign finances, and more.

It was built for the Washington Post’s Election Hackathon 2012. It was exciting and exhausting to bring something to life in little more than 24 hours. Our idea combined a number of APIs to produce a profile for every candidate running for President or Congress in the United States. The seed of the idea was good enough that we were chosen among 10 projects to present to the group at large on the last day of the hackathon.
